Session 1: The Protestant Episcopal Church in the Confederate States of America with Sheffield Hale

In 1862 Georgia Bishop Stephen Elliott led the southern Episcopal churches out of the national Episcopal communion to form the separate branch called The Protestant Episcopal Church of the Confederate States of America. We’ll look at the four-year life of the Confederate church and the personalities and beliefs of those who formed it.

Sheffield Hale is a member of All Saints' and President & Chief Executive Officer of the Atlanta History Center.
