Millie Turek

Collaborative Pianist, Children and Youth Choirs

    Millie Lanier Turek serves as the Accompanist for the Children and Youth Choirs.  Millie taught Middle School and High School Chorus for 32 years in Georgia public schools and has continued to teach and conduct in the private sector since retiring from public schools. She is currently Associate Music Director, accompanist, and instructor for the choirs of the Atlanta Young Singers, having previously served as accompanist and assistant director for the Spivey Hall Children’s Choir, founder and director of the Fayette Youth Chorale (1998-2008), and the Centre Masterworks Youth Chorale (2012-2014).

    Millie earned an undergraduate degree in music education from Florida State University and a Masters of Music from Georgia State University. She completed Level III Kodaly Certification at Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ and Level IV at Portland State University.  Millie has served as President of the Georgia ACDA-American Choral Directors Association and is an active member of the Association for Music Education/Georgia Music Education Association and the Organization of American Kodaly Educators. She has served as clinician, accompanist, and adjudicator for numerous honor choruses, choral festivals, and all-state choruses in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. In addition to her work in the choral music field, Millie has a passion for Music Theatre and has director over 45 productions for middle, high school and college and community theatre companies.
