Justin Maxey
Associate Director of Music
Justin Maxey is an accomplished organist, pianist, conductor, and collaborative artist whose career has taken him to churches, concert halls, and cathedrals throughout the United States and abroad. He holds a Master of Music in Organ Performance and Literature from The Eastman School of Music, an Artist Diploma in Organ Performance from Mercer University, and a Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance from Shorter College, where he also minored in voice and piano.
During his undergraduate years, Justin served as accompanist for the Shorter College Chorale under Dr. Martha Shaw, an experience that included two European tours and a nationally released recording, Beautiful River, recorded at Spivey Hall.
As an organist, Justin has performed in some of the world's most celebrated churches, including St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, St. Alban's Cathedral, Ely Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin, and St. Paul's Cathedral in London. He has also performed on the famed "Mighty Mo" at Atlanta's Fox Theatre and, most recently, appeared as organist at Atlanta Symphony Hall.
Justin is the recipient of top prizes in the Atlanta and Rochester Quimby Competitions of the American Guild of Organists, and the Atlanta Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon Performance Competition. He also received the David Spicer Hymn Playing Award at the Schweitzer Organ Competition and was a finalist in the 2019 Longwood Gardens International Organ Competition.
He currently serves as Associate Director of Music & Organist at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Atlanta, where he also directs the All Saints' Chorale, and as Collaborative Artist for University Singers of Georgia State University. He has also served as collaborative artist with the Atlanta Master Chorale, the Emory University Chamber Choir, and the Georgia Tech Chamber Choir. Justin has toured with the Atlanta Opera and has performed with the Georgia State University Singers at the World Symposium on Choral Music in Istanbul, Turkey, and at the American Choral Directors Association National Conference in Dallas.
Frequently sought as both a performer and consultant, Justin presents solo recitals and dedicatory concerts and advises churches on organ-building and restoration projects.
