Dear saints,
This weekend we will celebrate the transformation of our Habitat for Humanity build from house to home. Alongside the finishing touches, Saturday will see a dedication ceremony as the new homeowners, William and his family, receive the care of the home we have built alongside them these past several weekends. What a gift it has been to celebrate both our 120th anniversary as a church and the legacy of our beloved parishioner, Mike Carscaddon, a long-time leader at Habitat International. Friends of Mike have set up an endowment fund at All Saints' in his honor called the 'Matthew 25 Fund', inspired through Mike's life by the call in the gospel to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the incarcerated and care for the sick. Mike and All Saints' are witnesses in our lives to what it looks like to live the gospel with clear and faithful intention. May William and his family know something of that good news through our time together and the gift of his new home.
Of course, this is a time in our life together when we are being invited to draw to mind our clear and faithful intentions for the future of our church on this city block. A couple of weeks ago we released a parish wide survey that asks each of us to answer a short number of questions about what matters most about All Saints' now and for the future. We can only build together the future we share a vision for.
