Looking for a fun, flexible and fulfilling volunteer job? Come to Respite Care Atlanta! Respite Care Atlanta (RCA) is a program designed to provide joy filled care to those suffering from dementia and “respite” for the caregivers. All Saints’ is one of nine congregations who support it, and our own Martha Sterne was instrumental in getting it underway. All Saints’ has a list of wonderful volunteers, but we are looking for more to enable the program to grow to three days.
Housed at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church at Peachtree and East Wesley, RCA currently serves “members” of Club RCA on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. With a very small professional staff, volunteers carry the program in varying shifts and roles. You can be a greeter, a lunch server, a program or exercise leader, help with arts and crafts, a member of the “goodbye” team or a companion for the duration. Hours and shifts vary, and the best is that it is so flexible. If you can’t come one week, you just don’t sign up. It is truly a joyful place!
Each volunteer must attend an hour long information session.
Please contact Susan Virgin, Harriet Shaffer, and Kinsey Harper to sign up or to receive more information.
