Dismantling Racism: Lenten Youth Study

Wednesday, 2/24/21 at 7:00pm

About the Event

Service and Social Justice

For the 40 days of Lent,  youth in grades 9 through 12 are invited to participate in a Wednesday night small group study on dismantling racism. We will be engaging a program developed specifically for teenagers by the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing, an Episcopal organization right here in Atlanta. The curriculum is geared towards providing a Christian framework for the work of racial healing and is designed with predominantly white churches in mind.

This six-week program will take place each Wednesday night during Lent from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Zoom, beginning February 24 and ending March 31. Each session builds upon the previous, so attendance is crucial. A maximum of one absence will be permissible. We plan to begin offering this program at least once per year, so please do not sign up if you cannot commit to full participation. There will be future opportunities. Friends from outside All Saints' are welcome to join.

Because of the sensitive nature of this work, we will be hosting an optional parent meeting on Sunday, February 21 at 6:00 p.m., and it will be recorded. This will provide a chance to ask any questions, learn about the program, and receive a list of many of the resources and links that we will be exploring.

Deadline to Sign Up: February 23
