Director of Youth and Children’s Music
Karol Kimmell is the Director of Youth and Children’s Music, having served All Saints’ since 1998, directing six choirs, choral and handbell, for children ages four through 18: Cherub, Primary, Junior, Junior Handbell, Youth and Youth Handbell choirs.
Karol serves as Co-Director and faculty member for two annual summer conferences: Lutheridge Music Week, Arden, NC, and The Choristers Guild Institute, providing worship planning and choral directing training for choir directors. She presents and conducts at festivals, conferences and summer camps for publishing, choral and denominational organizations including ACDA, Lake Junaluska, Massanetta Springs, Bonclarken, Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, Shenandoah University Church Music Institute, First Plymouth Choral Festival in Lincoln, NE, and the 2018 Kemp Church Music Symposium at Westminster Choir College. In August 2019 Karol prepared and led a children’s choir at the opening worship of the ELCA’s Churchwide Assembly in Milwaukee, WI, (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America).
Karol attended Wittenberg and Lenoir-Rhyne Universities receiving a BME (organ) from LRU. She has served as organist and choir director in Lutheran, Episcopal, and Presbyterian congregations. She is certified in Orff and Kindermusik, studied voice at the Mannes School of Music and sang in the Riverside Church Choir, NYC.
Karol and her husband, Kim, raised their children in the choirs, the youth program and Troop 42 Boy Scouts at All Saints’.
