2022 Annual Canvass Update

Courageous Giving: the theme of our canvass this year and a phrase packed with meaning for the generous community that is All Saints’ Church.

Commitment Sunday is an important marker on the way to our goal of a fully-funded budget of outreach, worship, music and activities. To date we have 538 pledges and $2,632,963 pledged. Thank you to all who have participated so far. Our goal is to have 700 pledges and $3 million by March of 2022.

Together we can do this!

If you have not pledged yet, it is not too late! Pledge online at allsaintsatlanta.org/pledgecard or use the pledge card in your Sunday bulletin.

Many thanks everyone as you prepare for a safe Thanksgiving season of giving thanks,

Dear saints,

One of my favorite stories of the late theologian Marcus Borg comes from an 'Intro to Christianity' class he was teaching for college freshmen. As he was laying out what to expect in the class, a voice cried out from the back of the lecture hall, "I don’t believe in God." Perhaps the young man who’d made the statement thought it might derail things for a while. Instead, Marcus took it as an invitation to lean in, and replied, "Tell me about the God you don’t believe in."

I love that story because it reminds me that to follow Jesus is to lean in, trusting that there is so much more we have to receive from others' lives than we could ever give. It’s why we have the church. It’s also the central hope of the new 'Peoplestown Partnership’ that we will be launching this weekend. Through it, All Saints’ is being invited to lean in and grow in closer relationship with the community of Peoplestown through ministries our diocesan partner, Emmaus House, offers there.

Perhaps you come to this church because you feel a need in your heart to be invited into experiences and commitments that will stretch you and help you grow. I hope so. It was what our founder intended in leaving us as God’s legacy project as the Body of Christ. Join me, if you would, this Sunday in Ellis Hall following the 9:00 a.m. service so that I can share with you the vision we have to be God’s people for this city.

Peace,

If you would like to participate in groups that will begin in January, please sign up online. For more information, please contact Ann Stuart Pearce at sacredground@allsaintsatlanta.org.

Volunteer with Respite Care Atlanta

Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church

Looking for a fun, flexible and fulfilling volunteer job? Volunteer with Respite Care Atlanta! Our program designed to provide joy-filled care to those suffering from dementia as well as “respite” for the caregivers.

All Saints’ is one of nine congregations who support it, and our own Martha Sterne was instrumental in getting it underway. All Saints’ has a list of wonderful volunteers, but we are looking for more so we can grow the program to three days. Volunteers serve as greeters, lunch servers, program or exercise leaders, help with arts and crafts, and more.

Donate Children's Clothing, Books, Socks, and Shoes to Threads

We invite donations of new or gently used children’s clothing; a donation barrel is located in the upper level of the parking garage behind the security booth.

Current needs: long-sleeved tops for boys and girls (sizes 5 through 16), child-sized house slippers, and warm baby blankets. We're also looking for a smallish baby changing table in good condition.

Questions? Contact Lori Guarisco at threads@allsaintsatlanta.org.

Grace Notes
On Wednesday, 17 volunteers from the parish helped move everything needed for a new home for our new refugee family, the Namakula family from Uganda. All the wonderful donations were provided by parishioners and the Namakula family is so touched by the kindness and care.

Special thanks to: Mike Plemons, Dick and Joann Nagy, Valerie Nichols, Tanya Carr, Kerri Izzo, Sue Everets, Dori Wofford, Smith Cooley, Frances Kerr, Amelia Baker, Deb Cox, Nadia Lancy, Sintra Constant, Vicky Cork, and Stephanie Sudden for their commitment and flexibility.

Interested in helping the family get settled? We invite volunteers to help take the family to the grocery store, plan a kid-friendly outing, show them how to use MARTA and laundry facilities, as well as other resettlement activities. If you'd like to help, please contact our Director of Refugee Ministries, Louisa Merchant, at louisam@allsaintsatlanta.org. Thank you!
We have begun delivering warm winter coats from the Threads Coat Drive! Here's Lori Guarisco delivering coats to Our House on Tuesday.
