Dear saints,

A heartfelt thanks goes out to Andy Barnett for keeping things running smoothly these past two weeks while I have been away with a merry band of pilgrims in Greece. We have a deep reserve of talent on our staff at All Saints', and I am so very grateful for all that each of them does.

Our pilgrimage had plenty of opportunity to think about deep reserves through the course of our travels as we peered down into the ground of the 5,000 years of history that Greece is home to. One of my favorite comments from our guide was how the second city of Greece, Thessaloniki, has been struggling for years to build a subway system because every time construction workers think they're making progress, they hit another archeological gem.

Imagine if we lived our lives that way. My late father-in-law truly was one of those people who never met a stranger. He had an in-built fascination for utterly random strangers, sure that he was going to unearth all sorts of treasures if he asked them the right questions. Imagine if we all had that sort of curiosity for what lies beneath another person's life. Imagine if we expected to be stopped in our tracks once in a while because we had discovered a gem in the life of a fellow human being.

I hope that your life at All Saints' makes you curious to know and be known. Personally, I never ceased to be enriched by what I learn about and from the people in this place. Happy digging!

Peace,

This Sunday

Giving

Welcome to Canvass 2023: Rooted Here and Growing Outward

Q: How do I decide how much to pledge for 2023?

A: Offer a commitment that is meaningful to YOU. For many of us our pledge is a way to establish the importance that our church community has in our lives.  For others it is a realization that to run a vibrant parish like All Saints’ requires that we all make a significant contribution.

Q: I give money when the offering plate is passed during worship service. Is it really important that I make a pledge for 2023?

A: Pledge commitments are the only way our finance committee can design a budget and plan for 2023. Collectively our pledges add up to what we are able to do each year. Every pledge matters.

Q: What is the easiest way to make a pledge?

A: Click on this link. If you don't have a secure Realm account, open one and then make your pledge. Its as easy as that!

All Saints’ has more than 400 EfM graduates, one of the largest in the Episcopal Church!  If you are interested in learning more about the program and possibly joining a group, please contact Steve Hines at hines@ajobs.com or at 404-323-0610.

September Parish Wide Threads FALL Clothing Drive

• Requesting donations of gently used or new Children’s clothing for both Boys and Girls, infant through size 18 and small adult clothing in preparation for RE-Opening Threads for in-shop shopping in October. The School Uniform Event was a huge success, with 400 children served with clothing and shoes. However, that left Threads with low inventory so we need a Clothing Drive now!

• Donation boxes are located on the first floor of the Pritchett Center and in the first-floor stairwell between Ellis Hall and Egleston Hall.

• Please consider talking to neighbors and family and asking them to donate too! You may also think about involving your children’s extracurricular groups, scouts, or sports teams as well.

Questions? Contact Lori Guarisco at threads@allsaintsatlanta.org.

Share a Meal with the Men of Covenant Community

Mondays, September 19 and 26

Covenant Community is a great ministry that provides residential drug treatment for homeless men struggling with addiction. From the time it was founded at All Saints' over 30 years ago, our parishioners have provided dinner to share with the residents of Covenant Community. Please consider breaking bread with them on a Monday night. You could bring dinner yourself, with friends, or even co-workers. Children are also welcome to join! Meals for around 15 people can either be shared with the men inside the residence or they can be dropped off during the day. The available dates are September 12 and 19.
