Dear saints,
One of the most meaningful spiritual practices I have encountered is a Bible study method called Dwelling in the Word. Essentially, we gather in community, split into pairs, hear a short passage of scripture, and get curious about it together. We ask questions like:
- What questions would you want to ask a Bible Scholar?
- What captures your imagination, or causes you to pause?
- What does this story tell us about God?
- What’s happening in your life that resonates with this story?
Then we have an opportunity to listen to our conversation partners, and we report back what we heard. I love this practice because it asks questions that folks can answer in their own words. It opens up the scripture in ways that cultivate imagination, spark curiosity, and invite conversation.
Often, the conversations move beyond small talk, going to a place where deep calls unto deep. What I mean by that is we have something important to talk about, and we do it intuitively: God is doing a new thing in all of us, all the time.
This Sunday, we’ll invite the saints to Ellis Hall between the services to try on this practice. May it be a blessing to you, as it has been for me.
Peace,

Labyrinth Ministry at All Saints’
Sunday, September 11, 4:30 p.m., Kennedy Courtyard
Celebrate the opening of our hearts to the fall season, to the honoring of lives lost on 9/11, to new beginnings and summer memories. Walk the labyrinth in the spirit of pilgrimage: release what no longer serves you, receive what nurtures your open heart, renew your spirit, and remember your journey. The All Saints’ labyrinth, adapted from the 13th century design on the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France, represents an archetype for our soul’s journey, with the twists and turns of our life. Labyrinth walks take place in Kennedy Courtyard (rain location: Ellis Hall) and are accompanied by live music. When planning your visit, please allow approximately 20 minutes for your walk.

Rooted Here and Growing Outward
The 2023 Annual Canvass kicks off on Sunday, September 11
Over the next eight weeks we will remind everyone that it is time to make your pledge commitment for next year. We are rooted here in so many ways: through the ministries we participate in, through our worship together, and through our giving which sustains this community. We are also growing outward and into our city with our core ministries and faith in action in our city. The Annual Canvass giving is for the operational budget we manage each year. It pays for mission and ministry, it pays the salaries of people who keep the church running, it pays for our buildings and grounds, and so much more. Please make a generous commitment to all that we have together. Let's face this future together. Thank you!
Anne and Charlie Henn

Make New Friends with Foyer Groups
One of the very best ways to get to know fellow parishioners in a big church like All Saints is through informal, small dinner group gatherings at one another’s homes. The groups formed are a great mix—single, married, of a varied status and age. Many close friendships have been formed through these great dinner gatherings; it’s a perfect, low-key way to make connections. Signups will be at the Parish Life table until mid-September or you can register online at the All Saints' website. For more information contact Barbara Blender at bblender@bellsouth.net or Sherry Collins at sherry_collins@bellsouth.net.

September Parish Wide Threads FALL Clothing Drive
• Requesting donations of gently used or new Children’s clothing for both Boys and Girls, infant through size 18 and small adult clothing in preparation for RE-Opening Threads for in-shop shopping in October. The School Uniform Event was a huge success, with 400 children served with clothing and shoes. However, that left Threads with low inventory so we need a Clothing Drive now!
• Donation boxes are located on the first floor of the Pritchett Center and in the first-floor stairwell between Ellis Hall and Egleston Hall.
• Please consider talking to neighbors and family and asking them to donate too! You may also think about involving your children’s extracurricular groups, scouts, or sports teams as well.
Questions? Contact Lori Guarisco at threads@allsaintsatlanta.org.
