Dear saints,
This Sunday we begin a Fall of adult formation at All Saints'. The stated goal of our formation life is to 'invite the Holy Spirit's transformation of our lives, deepening our Christian faith for the sake of the world'. Transformation and depth are two words that come to mind when I think of our new associate for formation, Jenny McBride, whom we introduce to All Saints' below. Jenny brings a host of gifts and experience to All Saints'. I suspect she will be first in and last out of the water on youth group pool parties and Chattahoochee tubing trips. She has a keen and compassionate theological mind - she has a PhD from UVA for those of you who will need to either celebrate that fact or get used to the idea. And she is a pastor at heart. One of the more remarkable parts of her background is her work teaching in prison and particularly with a woman on death row in GA, Kelly Gissendaner, who through Jenny became friends with theologian Jurgen Moltmann. You may well know that Moltmann is considered one of the most influential theologians alive in the world today. You can read about their friendship here. I am delighted that she is coming on board. Her first day of work with be at the parish weekend at Kanuga. Straight in at the deep end! Please join me in giving thanks for and welcoming Jenny and her husband Thomas to All Saints' and pray for Jenny's ministry here for the years to come.
Peace,

Welcome to Jenny McBride, new Associate for Formation
We are delighted to announce that Jenny McBride will be joining All Saints' as the new Associate for Formation. She begins her ministry among us at the beginning of October. Here is a little background about Jenny:
Jenny McBride is from Chattanooga, TN. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and has an M.A. and Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia. Since 2008, Jenny has worked in graduate level theological education, and has served on the faculty of Wartburg College in rural Iowa and McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. She is the author of a number of books and journal articles and is President of the International Bonhoeffer Society. Jenny is a candidate for Holy Orders through the Diocese of Atlanta and will be ordained to the diaconate in December and to the priesthood next summer. Jenny is married to Thomas Fabisiak (Fabe-is-ak), who runs a college degree program at Arrendale State Prison for Women through Life University in Marietta. They love hiking, biking, swimming, and enjoying the beauty and vibrancy of their Atlanta in town neighborhood.
In Jenny's own words: 'I am thrilled to be joining the All Saints’ community. What an honor to get to share life with children and youth as well as foster adult formation. Over the years, God has given me amazing opportunities to grow in faith in a variety of ways — through camp and youth ministry, by finding God in love of neighbor and in the works of mercy, through Christian education in colleges and seminaries. And now I have the opportunity for these various threads to come together in parish ministry. I feel like my whole life has led me to this moment, and I cannot wait to begin the journey with you.'

Make New Friends with Foyer Groups
One of the very best ways to get to know fellow parishioners in a big church like All Saints’ is through small and informal dinner gatherings at one another’s homes. The groups formed are a great mix—single, married, and various ages. Many close friendships have been formed through these great dinner gatherings. It’s a perfect, low-key way to make connections. Signup at the Parish Life table on Sunday mornings. For more information contact Barbara Blender at bblender@bellsouth.net or Sherry Collins at Sherry_collins@bellsouth.net

Mike Carscaddon Matthew 25 Ministry Fund
“Share in the Movement that was set up for you…for I was hungry and you shared your food with me; I was a stranger and you welcomed me; ragged and you clothed me; sick and you nursed me. I was in jail and you stood by me." Then the people of justice will answer…”when did we see you hungry and share our food, or thirsty and share our water? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or ragged and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in jail, and stand by you?” and the Leader of the Movement will reply, “When you did it to one of these humblest…you did it to me.”
- Matthew 25, New Testament translation by Clarence Jordan, Cotton Patch Gospel.
