A Note From the Associate Rector for Worship and Adult Formation
Dear saints,
I am pleased to write with an update on worship and adult formation. I'd like to begin with gratitude for your participation in our recent survey. As ever, you engaged us thoughtfully and you shared your unvarnished opinions: please know that we are listening.
On the formation front, we heard your enthusiasm for varied offerings, taught by congregational leaders and invited guests, with a focus on spiritual depth. You shared that schedule conflicts and technology fatigue get in the way of joining classes, so we are going to stream, record, and archive the major fall offerings.
Regarding worship, your input was invaluable. Lay leadership, Biblical engagement, contextual prayers, prophetic preaching, and youth participation emerged as core priorities. You showed your passion for music, especially singing familiar hymns and supporting our beloved choir. You noticed the details (you loved the flowers, vestments, and new camera system), you expressed relative ambivalence about "Spiritual Communion," and several of you recommended that we try morning prayer for a season, given the realities of COVID-tide. Hearing all of this feedback, along with guidance from our Bishop and other leading Episcopal parishes, we have decided to work with morning prayer as our Sunday liturgy, beginning on July 26.
Please join me in celebrating the incredible staff and volunteer team that makes it possible to worship God online: Kirk Rich, Giles Brightwell, Karol Kimmell, Jocelyn Cassada, Lisa Bell, all of your clergy, Jerry Byrd, Alvin Moore, Charlie Rigby, Rick Woodward, Gail Rogers, and Larry Graham. It is a joy and privilege to serve among you.
Sincerely,
Andy+
Simon is on vacation this week and next.

This year, we're also excited to include care packages from Threads, our children's clothing ministry, in our deliveries. Please note that Threads is unable to accept new donations at this time and the care packages will be supplied through the current inventory. Click here to learn more and sign up to participate.

Vestry Nomination Process Extended through July 5
The nomination process for the class of the 2022/2023 vestry was cut short due to our transition to Stay at Home in March. To ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate, we're accepting additional vestry nominations through Sunday, July 5. The new nominations we receive will be added to those we received earlier this year.

The MICAH Project:
Lillian Smith: Breaking the Silence
Sunday, July 26, 11:00 a.m., on Zoom
Lillian Smith, a white southerner, was shunned and threatened most of her life (1897-1966) for speaking out against white supremacy and its toxic effects on individuals and society. From July 20-28, All Saints' parishioners will have the opportunity to access to the documentary "Lillian Smith: Breaking the Silence," at home (click here to watch between July 20-28). Then, on Sunday, July 26, we'll discuss the life and legacy of Lillian Smith during a Zoom Q&A with the filmmaker, Hal Jacobs, and actor Brenda Bynum, who created a one-woman play on Smith's life. Share a Meal with the Men of Covenant Community
(on Zoom)
Mondays, July 6, 13, and 20
There is still a way to help with the Monday dinners for Covenant Community while quarantine restrictions are still in effect. Although it will be a while before visitors will be allowed to join the men to break bread, the following protocol has been suggested by CCI's Executive Director, Johnathan Davis. For the foreseeable future, dinner will need to be dropped off at the front door on Spring Street. After dinner, the men would very much like to do a Zoom meeting with the parishioner so that everyone could get together online. Available dates are: June 22, July 6 and 13. Please click here to inquire about providing a meal and Barbara Blender will be in touch to help coordinate.

The Rev. Natosha Reid Rice joins the staff at All Saints' as Minister for Public Life, a leadership role that will support the parish in our mission to seek to serve Christ and the dignity of every human in the world around us. Natosha's work will focus on strengthening existing relationships and building new bridges between All Saints' and the city of Atlanta, inspiring parishioners and the parish as a whole to deepen our commitment to the city, through preaching, teaching, relationship-building, spiritual formation, and informed action.
Natosha's role at All Saints' will be part-time, as her ministry is truly bi-vocational within and beyond the church. She serves as the Associate General Counsel for Real Estate and Finance at Habitat for Humanity International. In this position, she initiates and manages financing programs and strategies to generate sources of capital that enable Habitat affiliates to provide decent, affordable housing to families throughout the US. In addition to her work at Habitat, Natosha is the founder of Fresh Rain for Life Ministries.
Before joining All Saints', Natosha served for 11 years as the Associate Pastor for Women's Ministries at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, and she currently serves on the boards of the global Harvard Alumni Association as an Elected Director, the Atlanta Community Foodbank, the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute, and Invest Atlanta's Atlanta Emerging Markets, Inc. She was ordained in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and attended a United Church of Christ seminary in St. Louis, MO. Natosha received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her B.A. in Government with honors from Harvard/Radcliffe College, and prior to joining Habitat, she practiced law in the commercial real estate practices of Alston & Bird LLP, in Atlanta, Georgia and at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison in New York City.
We are delighted to welcome Natosha to our parish as a preacher, a teacher, and a leader within our city. You can contact Natosha directly via her All Saints' email: nreidrice@allsaintsatlanta.org. Many blessings to her in this new chapter and to the work we will do together with her.
