All Saints’: Let Your Light Shine

Matthew 5:15-17 proclaims, “No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”

On Sunday, August 16, we’re excited to celebrate the start of a new program year on Homecoming Sunday! As part of the celebration, you’re invited to join our community in making angel lanterns at home for a parade-in-place. Take a photo of your beautiful creation and send it to Jocelyn Cassada at jcassada@allsaintsatlanta.org by Friday, August 7 to be featured in our online worship service on Homecoming Sunday, August 16.

Each angel lantern kit is $15 (or $20 after July 26) and we will ship it to you. The kit includes 11 x 17″ prints, a light, batteries, a stick, and a hobby knife (so it is best for ages 13 and above…or for a project with lots of parental supervision). Inside the lantern is a space for a collage, photos, or words. There is a blank page for your own designs, too. You can put your angel lantern on a stick to display in your yard for “parading-in-place,” or the angel lantern can sit on a surface or can hang on a wall. (UPDATE from August 4: We are SOLD OUT!)

The angel lantern kits are made by Chantelle Rytter, a parade artist best known for founding the Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade with the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons, of which she is the proud Captain. Chantelle has created a family of annual lantern parades based in community participation over the last ten years in Decatur, Sandy Springs, Midtown, and Hilton Head Island. Chantelle is a friend of Lori Guarisco, who serves as the Coordinator for Threads, our children’s clothing ministry. Many thanks to Lori and Chantelle for this wonderful idea!
