A Note From the Rector

Dear saints,

It is my great delight to announce today that the Rev. Natosha Reid Rice has been called to join All Saints' staff as Minister for Public Life. More detail will be shared below in this e-news about that role and about Natosha's experience and gifts for ministry. Of course, Natosha is no stranger to All Saints'. She has been our preacher/teacher on the Sunday each year we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She has been our Kanuga speaker, one of our Holy Week speakers, and over this first half of the year Natosha has preached and partnered with me in the Faith in the City series. Most recently, she led the 'Hold Onto Hope' Bible study series online with all of our full-time clergy. Natosha previously served at Ebenezer Baptist Church and her appointment at All Saints' will allow our parish to grow in friendship and in ministry with partners in the faith communities of Atlanta and in the wider city in exciting new ways. Please do join me in praying for and welcoming Natosha as she joins our team, and her husband Corey and their children Kayla, Malachi and Caleb .

Peace,

Welcome the Rev. Natosha Reid Rice to the All Saints' Staff

The Rev. Natosha Reid Rice joins the staff at All Saints' as Minister for Public Life, a leadership role that will support the parish in our mission to seek to serve Christ and the dignity of every human in the world around us. Natosha's work will focus on strengthening existing relationships and building new bridges between All Saints' and the city of Atlanta, inspiring parishioners and the parish as a whole to deepen our commitment to the city, through preaching, teaching, relationship-building, spiritual formation, and informed action.

Natosha's role at All Saints' will be part-time, as her ministry is truly bi-vocational within and beyond the church. She serves as the Associate General Counsel for Real Estate and Finance at Habitat for Humanity International. In this position, she initiates and manages financing programs and strategies to generate sources of capital that enable Habitat affiliates to provide decent, affordable housing to families throughout the US. In addition to her work at Habitat, Natosha is the founder of Fresh Rain for Life Ministries.

Before joining All Saints', Natosha served for 11 years as the Associate Pastor for Women's Ministries at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, and she currently serves on the boards of the global Harvard Alumni Association as an Elected Director, the Atlanta Community Foodbank, the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute, and Invest Atlanta's Atlanta Emerging Markets, Inc. She was ordained in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and attended a United Church of Christ seminary in St. Louis, MO. Natosha received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her B.A. in Government with honors from Harvard/Radcliffe College, and prior to joining Habitat, she practiced law in the commercial real estate practices of Alston & Bird LLP, in Atlanta, Georgia and at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison in New York City.

We are delighted to welcome Natosha to our parish as a preacher, a teacher, and a leader within our city. You can contact Natosha directly via her All Saints' email: nreidrice@allsaintsatlanta.org. Many blessings to her in this new chapter and to the work we will do together with her.

Refugee Ministries Sunday
This Sunday, June 21, is our annual celebration of Refugee Ministries Sunday, which we observe in conjunction with World Refugee Day on June 20. This year, we celebrate the 26th anniversary of our Refugee Ministries program and the life-giving relationships our community has developed with former refugee families who fled war and genocide to miraculously make it to the United States and start new lives. It is a honor for us to walk alongside dozens of families and to deepen our faith by journeying in partnership with a diversity of communities from Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. We have learned so much from their resilience, strength, creativity and hope.

During our Sunday worship service, we are delighted to welcome Abraham Ater, a member of St. Michael and All Angels' Episcopal Church who came to the United States as a Lost Boy of the Sudan. Abraham helped create the Refugee Advocacy Consortium with our parish and five others and he will tell a small part of his incredible story during the Sunday service.

We will also delight in seeing Mang Bor Cin and her family pass the peace during Sunday's worship service. We welcomed her family to the United States from Myanmar in 2016. The family is very grateful for the educational fund we started this spring, which will allow Mang Bor Cin to attend Georgia Tech in the fall and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.

May we continue to abide in the spirit and find joy and welcome in consciously intertwining our lives with those who have come here to start anew in faith and hope. For more information, contact Louisa Merchant at louisam@allsaintsatlanta.org.

Share a Meal with the Men of Covenant Community
(on Zoom)
Mondays, June 22, July 6 and July 13
There is still a way to help with the Monday dinners for Covenant Community while quarantine restrictions are still in effect. Although it will be a while before visitors will be allowed to join the men to break bread, the following protocol has been suggested by CCI's Executive Director, Johnathan Davis. For the foreseeable future, dinner will need to be dropped off at the front door on Spring Street. After dinner, the men would very much like to do a Zoom meeting with the parishioner so that everyone could get together online. Available dates are: June 22, July 6 and 13. Please click here to inquire about providing a meal and Barbara Blender will be in touch to help coordinate.
