Dear saints,

Happy Easter! I'm delighted that although the Easter bunny has well and truly packed up her things and gone into storage - until next year's little tykes try to steal her eggs all over again - in the life of the church we get 50 days to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Alleluia!

The staff this week have enjoyed a well-earned break. What better way to enter into the spirit of new life than by stopping living the way you did in the old one. For the staff of a busy church like All Saints’, the ‘old’ of a very full holy week is lots and lots of activity and planning and talking to people they really should recognize but probably didn’t because it was Easter Day. After a holy week like that, it is good to do nothing of consequence and change the speed on the record player for a while. For my part, I got on a plane for England on Monday night and pretended to be Swedish so that no well-meaning strangers would talk to me. We all have our ways of coping, don't we?

This weekend, we're right back at it, with our annual parish meeting this Sunday giving us all an opportunity to look at ourselves and ask what signs of new life we see in our midst. It is a very Eastertide question, and one I recommend we all try out this liturgical season. At All Saints' there are so many green shoots of growth. God is a surprise, over and over again.

This Sunday will also be a new beginning for six candidates being baptized and six parishioners who will be voted onto the vestry. We'll sing some new songs in the pews and a week after this Sunday, on May 4th, we will present a new vision for the future of our block.

Easter everywhere! It's how it should be. Come on over and join us.

Peace,

Parish Meeting is this Sunday!
