 A Note From the Rector
Dear saints,
This week, the clergy and I have been taking part in a four-day training that aims to help us better understand, feel and respond to people's lives different to our own. It's part of a wider effort we are undertaking with the staff and vestry to further equip us to live out the Christian hope for equity and healing. It's challenging and good work. Most of it will require patience and a lot of practice, and I for one anticipate that I will fail more than I succeed, especially at first. As is often the case with the life of faith, it is growth that requires a leap of imagination.
I find that stories help me imagine. In our household, I am reading again out loud the final book in the Harry Potter series. It is resplendent with fantastical struggles of faithfulness over despair, friendship over denial, and at its core, it augurs of love's power over death for all who might seek to find hope in the world. Followers of Jesus are called to embody such a hope. We are called to lean into a future the shape of which we can barely discern, yet believe in its coming all the same. What a gift it is to trust in God's goodness rather than rely solely on our own. I pray you will know that gift in your life this week and that together we will imagine a future where all God's children shall be free.

Walking the Labyrinth
at All Saints'
Sundays through November 22, 6:00-6:45 p.m.,
Kennedy Courtyard The Labyrinth Walk is a new All Saints' ministry that uses the church's canvas labyrinth, stretched in the Kennedy Courtyard, to create an open-air contemplative space and offer people the prayerful experience of walking a winding meditative path. The All Saints' labyrinth is imprinted with the image of the labyrinth laid into the pilgrimage Cathedral of Chartres France around 1200, during the time of the Crusades. The ritual of reflective walking can be viewed as a metaphor for the twisting path of one's life with its blind turns, which must be encountered one step at time. Also, in this COVID period the labyrinth offers a sacred container able to hold one's prayers of loss, joy, and thanksgiving. All participants must follow our COVID-19 protocols and register online. Clergy or staff host these gatherings, along with trained labyrinth facilitators, and there is live music played by a guest musician. Please click here to register.
