A Note From the Rector

Dear saints,

Over the coming days we will be winding down our program year at All Saints' as the school year also comes to an end. To say the least, we are finishing this year of ministry and mission very differently to how we began it. I am sure teachers and students everywhere are feeling the same way. It can be hard to remember at times that we enjoyed lives of such vibrance and activity, and as many gifts there may be to keeping in place, it is at times like these when we realize just how much we are missing.

As we look forward to a new program year in August, one of the questions I have been asking people is what they imagine the essence of All Saints' is in its many and varied expressions. What is the essence of Kanuga for you, I wonder? Or the essence of our core ministries of service to others? Or of our worship life? We would love to know if you would share those insights with the staff and vestry.

One of the ways by which we grow into greater maturity as followers of Jesus is by honestly asking ourselves what we, in truth, are all about. What am I really like? How do I really live? What do I really think about the world and my purpose within it? I pray that the summer months that lie ahead will be openings for you to consider such things and that in your wondering you will walk deeper into the kingdom of the One who wonders with us.

Blessings for your journeying,

An Update from Refugee Ministries: Thank You for your Generosity!
Since sheltering in place began on March 13, Refugee Ministries has received an astounding $8,000 in donations from 22 parishioner donors and a $600 gift from St. Luke's Chapter. We continue to provide financial assistance to former refugee families in need of emergency food, and next month we will begin providing emergency rent and utilities assistance now that we have enough funds. We also raised over $10,000 in one day from 25 donors for the educational fund for Mang Bor Cin, the daughter of our 2016 resettlement family from Myanmar. Mang Bor Cin has been accepted to Georgia Tech. She will start this fall and her family is overjoyed that your generosity will allow her to pursue her dream of becoming a physician. If you're interested in learning more about her story, watch this video interview she made with All Saints' parishioner and Refugee Ministries volunteer Steve Heckler. For more information, contact Louisa Merchant at louisam@allsaintsatlanta.org.

An Update from Covenant Community
The residents of Covenant Community are so very grateful for the all the notes and gifts from parishioners who have been participating in All Saints' Cares. Once plans are underway for gradual reopening of the church, we will inform everyone when dates will be available to once again break bread on a Monday night with Covenant's residents.  For more information, contact Barbara Blender at bblender@bellsouth.net.
