About the Event

All ChurchMusic

Sunday, January 16, 2022

On Sunday, January 16, we will honor and recognize the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Music

All Saints' continues our partnership with Challenge the Stats (CTS), an organization that exists to empower BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) artists and uses music as a tool for social justice both inside and outside of the concert hall. Three CTS artists will provide music during the 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. services in the church. We will also honor a long-standing relationship with The Singing Sisters of Ebenezer Baptist Church and their Director, Laura English-Robinson, who will join with the All Saints’ Parish Choir for special hymns, anthems, and spiritual songs during the services.

Preacher & Forum

Our preacher for the 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. services will be Luther Smith, Professor Emeritus of Church and Community at Emory University. One the nation’s leading theologians on the work of Howard Thurman, Luther calls the church to serve God in the world, remembering especially those who, in the words of Thurman, “have their backs against the wall.” Between the services, join us for a forum in Ellis Hall at 10:15 a.m. to hear more from Luther Smith as part of the series, A Vision for All the Saints.

Pilgrimage to the Sweet Auburn Labyrinth (***RESCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 23***)

At 12:30 p.m. (on January 23), join friends from the Labyrinth at All Saints’ Ministry and The MICAH Project for a pilgrimage to the labyrinth in the legendary Sweet Auburn neighborhood, alive with Martin Luther King's energy and hundreds of creative initiatives for building bridges to community wholeness and love. ***Please note that this pilgrimage event has been rescheduled to January 23 due to the wintry weather forecast.*** Learn more and sign up >>
