A Note From the Rector

Dear saints,

Blessings to each of you this Good Friday. The journey through the Lenten wilderness has led us to another sort of liminal space - one whose end point remains elusively beyond the horizon. Our fasts of abstaining from chocolate or alcohol pale by comparison to this forced abstinence from normal life, yet here we are in this curious dispensation. As we approach the cross of Christ today longing in many ways for life to rise again, perhaps we might see anew that within this paradox of our faith lies a gift for us to offer to the world. For we are called to hold that paradox within us: loss and hope, dark and light, death and life. I pray that you may find your way deeper into the kingdom because of all that is different about this year's pilgrimage to Calvary and then the tomb. And as you do, may you meet the Holy One whose deep love for you calls to the deep of who you are.

Be faithful, be true, be the saints of God for such a time as this.

Peace,

Easter Message from the Rector

Following the our Easter Sunday online worship service, our rector Simon will share a brief message and give everyone the chance to write in an Easter greeting to the parish. For more information, contact The Rev. Dr. Simon Mainwaring at smainwaring@allsaintsatlanta.org.

Make a Flowered Cross
Our lawn cross is a favorite Easter Sunday tradition and we will miss gathering around it this year, but we hope to keep the spirit of this tradition by making flowered crosses at home!
Send us photos of your creations (preferably with you in the photo) so we can share them online with our community on Easter Sunday. Get creative with whatever materials you have on hand! If you're not into crafting or if you prefer Easter fashion, consider taking a photo in the Easter outfit (or bonnet) you plan to wear. Please send your photos to Jocelyn Cassada at jcassada@allsaintsatlanta.org by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11.

(P.S. In case you need more convincing, watch this video from Alvin Moore!)

We Encourage Your Easter Offerings!
There are many ways to make a special Easter offering to the church:
  1. Mail in a check marked "Easter" in the memo line. We receive the mail at the church each day at 634 West Peachtree St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30308.
  2. Pay online with a credit card. Go to allsaintsatlanta.org/give-online, click the "Give A Gift" button, and direct your donation to "Easter Offering."
  3. OUR NEWEST WAY TO GIVE: TEXT to GIVE! On your phone, text ALLSAINTSATLANTA to 73256 and fill in a dollar amount and direct it to "Easter Offering." Standard text messaging rates may apply.
If you need help with any of these options, contact Betsey Gibbs at bgibbs@allsaintsatlanta.org.

A Note of Gratitude
A sincere thank you to this generous parish that is continuing to pay pledges, whenever possible, in the midst of all the other things we have on our minds. We are trying to keep our families safe, we are trying to help others in need, we are trying to keep our local restaurant and our neighborhood dry cleaners in business,  we are praying for those who are sick, we are learning to calm our own thoughts and anxieties. And when we can, we are writing a check or charging our credit cards which helps our church, in turn, do more of God's work in the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Interviewing the Saints Project
As many of us have more time to reach out to each other (from home), the children of All Saints' decided to do their very own history project. They would love to interview saints of all ages about how you got to All Saints', your favorite memories here, how you've handled difficult times in life, you favorite Bible verse, etc. We can do these interviews by snail mail, email, phone, FaceTime, or Skype. If you are interested in participating, please send your name, address, email, and phone number to Kathy Roberts at kroberts@allsaintsatlanta.org. She will pair you with a pen pal and you can talk about how you'd like to do the interview. The kids will send a preview of their questions ahead of time so that you have time to prepare!

Need a new recipe?
Postponing the All Saints' Women's Retreat has not stopped this amazing group of fifty women from bonding over shared love of food! We've been sharing favorite recipes over email. Enjoy these two recipes and we hope to post two per week throughout this time of social distancing.
