A Note From the Rector
Dear Saints,
Can you remember the person who taught you to read? In honesty, I cannot. I can recall, however, the warmth of teachers who listened to me read, and laughing with my mother at bedtimes as we both delighted in the outrageous imagination of children's writer Roald Dahl. Educators call that a love for learning, and it is not a guarantee for all children, in fact many of our youngest Atlantans don't find their learning celebrated because of all manner of factors working against them. This Sunday, at our All Parish Forum our own Comer Yates, parishioner and Executive Director of the Atlanta Speech School, and Dr. Mark Becker, President of Georgia State University, will engage in a dialogue about solutions that seek to address the challenges of providing access to high quality education for all in Atlanta and beyond, from the very earliest readers to a diversity of adult learners. I do hope that you will be able not only to join that conversation but ask yourself how you might share your love of learning with others.
In thanksgiving for all that we love to learn on and off this block.
