A Note From the (Associate) Rector
Dear Saints,
If you've applied for a driver's license lately, you've been asked about your blood type. But you may never have given the question a second thought. I am not one of the rare, universal donors, but I know the power of this flow of blood in our world. Years ago, my mother nearly died after delivering twins. She needed numerous transfusions to survive that ordeal. Out of gratitude for the gift given by individuals who stocked the Red Cross banks with their lifeblood, I donate whenever I am able.
In church, we sing about the saving power of Jesus' blood, lovingly shed for us all at Calvary. Jesus chose to hang on that cross, as the suffering of the whole world flowed through his body. Many of us give our "blood, sweat, and tears" to many worthy causes. Jesus' sacrificial love inspires us to offer the gifts we have, for the sake of the vulnerable and hurting. Donating blood is one of those substantive ways we can follow Jesus' example, blessing countless others, through God's generous abundance, flowing through our lives.
Perhaps you already give blood regularly. Maybe you are one of those elusive universal donors. You may be someone, like me, with a heart bursting with gratitude for the blood that has saved your dear ones. Even if (and perhaps especially if!) you've never donated before, I hope you will consider letting God's love flow though you this coming Sunday, July 21, at our All Saints' blood drive (8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Fireplace Room, Tate Hall). This process does NOT involve crucifixion and appointments are not necessary, though you are encouraged to claim a time slot in advance
here. You really need only bare your veins, as we offer ourselves-souls and bodies-to be vessels of God's generous provision for the world. Thank you, Saints, for your life-saving gift of blood!

Email Phishing Scam
The email phishing scam we saw at the beginning of the year has returned. Some of our community has again received fake emails that impersonate Simon, often asking for a quick response or favor and then asking for gift cards. All email communications from clergy and staff will always come from our official All Saints' email accounts, which end in
@allsaintsatlanta.org, and we will never ask you for money outside of a pledge campaign. We've created a web page with more information, including tips to help you identify email phishing scams and report them.

Training Teachers in a Time of Civil War with Barbara Thompson This Sunday, 11:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Ross Room, Parish House
The suffering of innocent children during times of war and while living in detention and refugee camps is compounded by serious interruptions in their education. In response, All Saints' parishioner Barbara Thompson helped create a professional development program for teachers in crisis environments called the Aspire Program. It is one of many educational efforts that have grown out of All Saints' Refugee Ministries. In June, Barbara and a team of educators launched Aspire Africa in Kigali, Rwanda, for teachers from Somalia, Congo, Sudan, Uganda, and Rwanda. This Sunday after the 10:00 a.m. service, Barbara will share stories from her Kigali experience. Learn more at
solutionsforinterruptededucation.org.
