A Note From the Rector

Dear Saints,

One of the lovelier children's hymns for this time of year is 'Thou didst leave thy throne and thy kingly crown'. It speaks of the movement of God to us in Jesus, with the beautiful closing words of the refrain, 'There is room in my heart for thee'. Sometimes, church life takes you from the sublime - the mystery of the Word made flesh - to the eminently practical - parking. With the practical in mind, I'd like to share what we are doing on our block, not to find parking for ourselves as much as share it with others. Starting this month, we are entering into a lease with Lanier Parking to utilize our parking when our lots are not in use for church and other activities. Initially we will focus on Fox Theater events, and expand beyond that, providing both a new source of revenue for the church, and a great location for our fellow Atlantans to park and enjoy what Midtown has to offer. Room in our hearts and in our parking lots - not quite what the hymn had in mind, but sometimes I find you have to stretch a concept to fit it to current hopes and needs. We will continue to communicate about this new arrangement, and should you have any questions or comments please do let us know.
Now back to preparing for the Christ child...

Peace,

Future of Our Block

Learning Together with the
Future of Our Block  Steering Committee
On Sunday, November 24, we had the final session in our series of Learning Together presentations, exploring how churches across the country have imagined their own legacy projects for their buildings and grounds as we prepare next year at All Saints' to discern the future of our own block. Visit futureofourblock.org  to read recaps of all of the Learning Together sessions and to learn about next steps.

Join the Future of Our Block Work
In preparation for next year's discernment as a parish over the future of our block, as we seek to leave a legacy for mission for generations to come, two new teams are being formed: the Parish History Committee and the Parish Engagement Committee. Most of the Parish History Committee's work will be focused on January next year. The work of the Parish Engagement Committee will focus on activity in March to June and then again from August to October. If you are interested in serving on either committee, please contact The Rev. Dr. Simon Mainwaring at smainwaring@allsaintsatlanta.org.
