Call for Submissions: Stations of the Cross

Our Arts Theology Committee seeks to commission up to six artists to create works of art for our Stations of the Cross collection. Each work of art in this collection represents one of the 14 major events that occurred during Jesus’s journey from his trial and sentencing by Pontius Pilate to his crucifixion and burial. This body of work along with prescribed prayers is used by Christian faithful to re-enact that journey.

Scope of the Project

Our Stations of the Cross collection is diverse and eclectic, ranging from photography to painting to relief sculpture. The selected artists will be given a theme to interpret, based on one of the Stations of the Cross, and each artist will be allowed to choose their own medium. These pieces will be on public display in a church environment during the season of Lent and thus must be tastefully developed.

Process

All interested artists should fill out an application by clicking the link below. A committee of three jurors will review all submissions to select the artists.

Eligible artists must be at least 18 years old.

Compensation: Selected artists will receive compensation of $750.

Deadline for submission: September 15, 2019.
