The 2018 Women’s Annual Lenten Retreat

Pawleys Island, SC
Thursday, March 15 – Sunday, March 18

Our Lenten retreat is just weeks before Easter, when we celebrate and live into resurrection. But, first comes death, or failure. Which is, for some of us, like death. The Rev. Monica Mainwaring will lead our Lenten retreat, guiding us through the death/resurrection themes of the liturgical seasons alongside the personalized failure/try-again themes of life, borrowing from three books. You may read Jana Riess’s Flunking Sainthood, or Richard Rohr’s Falling Upward, or Brene Brown’s Rising Strong, or you may aspire to read all of them, and fail, reading none. Still, you will find hope in the conversation and the fellowship taking place at this years’ women’s retreat. The Rev. Monica Mainwaring will draw from all three authors’ wisdom, alongside Scriptural and personal examples, to explore the experience we likely have all had – I HAVE FAILED – and to celebrate the resurrection that has or is yet to come in our lives. We will have opportunities to seek out various activities that might challenge us, giving us a chance to succeed, or fail, and then rise strong, perhaps fall upward. Maybe we will even discover sainthood along the way.
